Bella Bella Coffee Table Bench: Rust Stain

Mixed Media Bench

(ID: A11144)
Created by Lara Moore
This bench is made using a layered paper process. The artist starts by milling wood to the dimensions required. Then she attaches thin sheer tissue papers in various colors to each other, and to the wood. She has created a unique paste that allows the colors to blend together providing the velvety texture indicative of her work.

Each design element is hand cut with scissors from paper as well. Every blade of grass, spiral, and branch leaf is meticulously cut by hand attached with that same special paste. She seals the designed piece with a thick glossy, industrial grade resin.

The resin makes this work totally functional, heat, alcohol, and water resistant. Her work is meant to be used and is easily cleaned with a glass cleaner or a soft cloth and soapy water.

Perfect fossil display table

from Seattle

Comments about Bella Bella Coffee Table Bench: Rust Stain:

My husband is an anthropologist and we are using this as a fossil display table under a low window and between two mission style pieces of furniture. It looks great and is strong enough to support heavy rock. I was a bit suprised how glossy the finish is. It feels and looks a bit like plastic actually, although I know it's totally not!
