The Blues Sisters

Mixed-Media Sculpture

Created by Jackie Abrams
"The Blues Sisters" are from the artist's Women Forms Series, a series of woven vessels that speak of women, their shared stories, and their layers of experience. It is a continuing study of form, color, and surface texture. Each vessel tells the story of the woman she embodies. The outside has been formed and shaped by society and the woman's life experiences. The inside, which catches the light in unexpected ways, reflects her inner strengths, strengths not always visible, which may require careful looking.

Blue Sister One, on the right, is 11"H, 7" W, 7"D. Blue Sister Two, on the left, is 10"H, 7" W, 7"D. Each one is woven of painted cotton paper and wire, covered with rice paper, acrylic paint and mediums, and finished with a button.
