Hidden Place

Mixed-Media Table Lamp

This tall majestic lamp combines a hand thrown ceramic base with an Art Deco neck scavenged from a 1930s floor lamp. The shade is a collage of reproductions of engravings taken from The Works in Architecture of the Late Robert and James Adam, a book of architectural drawings that was printed in 1822. "Hidden Place" is the first of a series that will reflect this design, but of course each will have unique details and be an original.

Collaborative artists James Aarons and Mark Taylor have created a collection of unique lamps under the moniker Imaginary Lamp Empire. Individual and special, the lamps grow from a conversation between the two artists where every detail, from plug to finial, is considered as an essential component of the final composition. Lamp shades are elegant sewn paper collages using heavy archival paper, UV coated for longevity; lamp bodies are original ceramic forms enhanced with found objects. Each lamp is a unique treasure with thoughtful details and surprises from any viewing angle.
