Mixed-Media Wall Sculpture
One of a Kind
The sculpture is centered on a section of aspen log. The aspen used by the artist has a natural surface of great physical appeal, subtle coloring, and complex detail. The lower end is carved and then transparently painted. Colored panels, with subtle airbrushed gradations, and three painted spheres provide a counterpoint of form and texture. One panel has four of the artist's glyphs. A figure glyph and two abstractions made of twig and other wood project out from the central log on twig stalks. Signed on bottom.
The artist uses a variety of found objects in his sculptures: wind-polished aspen, milled-wood fragments, metal fragments, mining debris, high-altitude plane-crash fragments, stove parts, recycled crate wood, and more. Due to the unique nature of this piece, exact coloration and patterning will vary from piece to piece.
