Mixed-Media Wall Hanging
Created by John Boak
The sculpture is made of painted wood and one metal found object. The large glyph is hand sculpted. The iron object painted with sixteen of the artist's glyphs (plus fragments) as well as additional airbrushed color. The painting technique is primarily airbrushed gradation with the addition of tiny brushstrokes in the upper part of the thick central triangle. The roughness and articulation-by-symbol on the iron portion contrast with the formal clarity of the other components. Signed on the back.
