Tree Rings Variable Edition, 13/25, Alla Poupee
Created by Diana Arcadipone
Tree Rings is a series of drypoint/ monotype prints from an edition of 25. The image represents a cross section of a large felled tree. The traditional printmaking technique of Alla Poupee is used here as a way to incorporate multiple colors and tones of ink and to manipulate the image through wiping the plate. This allows the printmaker to create different colors and effects using the same plate, allowing for the production of a "variable edition" of unique prints. In addition, each tree ring is hand embroidered with 100% cotton thread. Printed on BFK Rives base paper (100% rag).
