Sea Life Necklace
Created by Kim Eric Lilot
Hand-fabricated in 18 karat yellow, white and red golds. The fish have Diamond eyes along with hand-fired translucent and opaque enameling. An extremely rare and unique buff-top, Cusion-cut Dendritic Agate (carved by Dr. Dieter Lorenz) creates the central under-water theme. A necklace of natural, untreated Aquamarine (Beryl) crystalline carved beads complete the necklace. The clasp, fabricated in 14 karat white gold, replicates the shape and size of these beads. It contains a hidden, interlocking clasp mechanism. The necklace's length is 20". The design of this necklace evolved from the underwater scene found within the Dendritic Agate carving. Multiple sketches and designs were created before the work began in earnest. After the central underwater scene was completed the artist searched for two years to find a German gem cutter who had the matching Aquamarine 'rough' and would carve these crystalline-like beads. The artist wanted natural forms that would create 'windows' into the ocean. The result is a vista into a world reminiscent of diving trips that the artist experienced in the Caribbean and Hawaii.
