Playa Santa 20
Created by Virginia Bradley
Oil on Duralar film. A new work created in February 2019 in the artist's Playa Santa open air Studio in Puerto Rico. Bradley is a great swimmer and snorkeler - the texture of the underwater coral in the cove has definitely affected the surface of this painting. The painting is composed of many layers of oil paint which is pooled on to the surface of the image and then dried to create unusual alchemical effects. The painting is then subtracted and added into the surface through brush work. This process is repeated until painting is transformed into a finished work.
