Playa Santa 21
Created by Virginia Bradley
New work from the "Playa Santa Series," which comprises works on paper created in Playa Santa, Puerto Rico. The artists spends the winters working in a roof-top studio in this small fishing village. This painting references a Caribbean evening sunset as a departure point. The painting is composed of many layers of oil paint which is pooled on to the surface of the image and then dried in the to create unusual alchemical effects. The painting is then subtracted and added into the surface through brush work. This process is repeated until the painting is transformed into a finished work. Ships rolled in a tube.
