The Yellow Door
Created by Dorothy Fagan
Letting go of previous painting styles, Fagan sought fresh inspiration with a Tuscan retreat. Giving herself time to paint unrestrictedly allowed her to fuse styles and color ideas with her love of fiber and fabrics. In this painting, one can see this new style developing as the quilts on the clothes line, the peach tree, and the shutters begin to all look like patterned fabrics juxtaposed in a quilt of color. Oil on linen mounted to cradled wood panel with sides painted a lavender-charcoal tone. Wired and ready to hang.
