Seed In Waiting Necklace

Polymer Clay Necklace

Created by Jeffrey Lloyd Dever
This opendant necklace is an abstract sculptural study of a ripening seed yearning to be free. The piece explores captive forms, in this case a seed, constrained by it's host pod. It features a counter-drilled round red bead that is free floating yet captive in a gradient pod, conjoined to a luminous twilight-hued form with detailed hand-worked surface. The central pod is built with layers of polymer clay, hand formed over an original artist mold then cured. It is joined with a reinforced armature to the adjacent pod. The results are a lightweight sculptural piece that really makes a statement.

The pendant measures 11"L, 7"W, .6"D and is strung on a colorful multi-hued, five-strand stainless steel cable with sterling silver friction clasp. The colorful surfaces are the actual color of the clay, carefully applied and cured in up to 10-12 individual stages. Each necklace by this artist features a hand carved and backfilled signature block on the back.
