One of a Kind
During her preparations for a recent art show, the artist began to think about how women's bodies have been manipulated by fashion throughout the centuries. During the Victorian age, we started torturing our bodies and bruised our ribs fitting into corsets. The happy expression this lady wears cannot hide her discomfort. The artist's watercolor paintings are busy, active works, revealing very few smooth washes. She prefers to paint fast and loose, letting blossoms and imperfections add to the energy of the painting. This 16 x 21 inch watercolor on Arches cold pressed paper is double matted with a dark gray outer mat.
