Bowl of Box Elder and Purpleheart
Created by Eric Reeves
The bowl that appears here was turned from exceptionally fine Box Elder, a species of maples. It is very light in color, with subtle color and figure. It is in places iridescent, and feels exceedingly smooth to the touch. The gentle downward turn of the wide bowl lip cuts sharply to a perfectly symmetrical concave center. The bowl is held firmly by a foot of Purplehear, a dramatically colored tropical American wood that is very hard and glues extremely well.
