Walnut Wave Box with Cherry Top
A precious little box made from local Chesapeake Bay trees that had fallen in storms or were dying and given new life, it has sides of glued bent laminations of walnut and holly center layers, finger joined together, and the cherry top and red cedar bottom float in grooves to allow seasonal dimensional changes. The smooth shellac polish finish is exquisite! On the bottom, it carries the burned in stamp of the maker.
This piece should need only dusting and an occasional coat of wax on the shellaced surfaces, if desired. As with any fine furniture, avoid contact with liquids.
