Gold Leaf Mirror with Scoops

Wood Mirrors

(ID: A18485)
Created by Kipley Meyer
Made from solid poplar, a softer hardwood that works well for shaping. This mirror gets its name from the multitude of randomly cut indentations (Scoops!) that cover the frame. After the frame is constucted, the graceful curves are cut. The outer edges are then carved and shaped to reveal a gentle, tapered curve. The wood is then coated with several coats of black lacquer to seal the wood and give a solid foundation for the gold leaf that follows. A series of techniques are used to texture & distress the leaf creating a look that at once is old world yet with a contemporary flare and just a touch of whimsy! Finished of with two more coats of semi-gloss lacquer to protect and beautify. The mirror itself is 1/4" thick for a stable and clear reflection.

Comments about Gold Leaf Mirror with Scoops:

We having been looking for a unique mirror that was also a piece of art for a long time and were unsuccessful until we found this one on Artful Home. The mirror is a perfect fit between modern and vintage and looks great in our 1940s renovated home. We hung it over our fireplace in our sitting room. We a several paintings in the room and the mirror goes well with all of them. The artist, Kipley Meyer, actually wanted to deliver the mirror personally since we coincidentally live in the same state but unfortunately we could not match our schedules. We are completely satisfied with our purchase and although the mirror in beautiful on the website it is even better in person.
