"Avis Sedis" was inspired by observing birds and the way they tuck their head behind them as they sleep. The artist also meditated on the idea of the form being a landscape at the same time as a bird, with the moon reflected in water. A combination of the artist's stacking technique, veneering, knotless netting, and glass fusing and slumping were used to create this complex yet peaceful sculpture. Small cane weavings add even more detail to the piece.
