Natural Edge Vessel Turned from Box Elder Burl
Created by Eric Reeves
This is a natural edge vessel turned from box elder burl. The natural edge is the bark from the exterior of the burl. A burl is a tree outgrowth typically found above ground but sometimes below. Box elder, a species of maple, is in its burl form the ideal wood for creating a natural edge to a vessel, provided that the orientation while being turned is used to maximum effect.
