Natural Edge Vessel Turned from Box Elder Burl
Created by Eric Reeves
This is natural edge vessel turned from Box Elder Burl. The natural edge is the bark from the exterior of the burl. A burl is a tree outgrowth typically found above ground but sometimes below. Box Elder, a species of Maple, is in its burl form the ideal wood for creating a natural edge to a vessel, provided that the orientation while being turned is used to maximum effect.
