Wood Wall Sculpture
Created by John Boak
"Thalassan" is sculpted from forest-aged aspen. It abstracts the form of a fish and is then painted with a composition of abstract forms. The piece combines the soft, curvilinear form of the fish with crisply painted lines and small geometrics and gentle gradations of color. The painting is executed with acrylic paints directly on and into the wood. The piece is then varnished to protect and reveal both the natural wood and the painted composition. It has a french-cleat hanger on the back.
