Billie's Dress

Woodcut Print

Created by Ouida Touchon
This is a hand-printed triptych depicting Billie Holiday and her two placeholders, (shadow figures). The center image is a reduction woodcut done on Kitakata Japanese paper and with oil based inks. Around the perimeter of the dress are the Holiday lyrics for 'God Bless the Child'. This triptych is part of a series that the artist calls 'Womenswear'. The two shadow figures that flank the colored woodcut are linocut prints and meant to represent Billie's contribution as a singer as well as a songwriter. The three hand-prints are mounted by chine colle onto a base sheet of 280 lb. acid free white paper. The print is signed and numbered by the artist. It is an edition of 4 and will be shipped flat in a cello sleeve, in a cardboard box.
