This one-and-only hand-print of Chiles No.23, signed and numbered (1/1) by the artist. The image itself is 13.5x16, and the heavy base sheet is size is 15x19. The collage details are adhered with Japanese Nori paste and are cut from hand-printed papers. Gorgeous marbled paper and muted colors in contrast to the striking black ink of the woodcut block. The chine colle process involves light weight and acid free paper cut into shapes and then adhered with Nori paste onto a base sheet of heavy paper, due to the pressure of the printing press. After the collage is dry, the print is run through the press again with the woodcut plate or block inked in black and overlaying the design onto the collaged elements. It is an arduous process but very satisfying when done correctly. This handprint is mounted on a back board and slipped into a cello sleeve. It is carefully packed and shipped in a flat box.
