"Cloud Dance" was one of the artist's favorite woodcuts to create. She was inspired by the clouds as they drifted across the sky and cast shadows onto the mountain sides. It is a woodcut print, signed and numbered by the artist in an edition of 10 with two artists proofs. She handprinted it in her studio in New Mexico with a baren, since she did not yet have a press to use. The woodcut print has three blocks that are inked and printed to compose the composition and on the last color, while the ink was still wet, she dusted the surface with bronze metallic powder and a wide rabbit fur brush to get a luminous quality of gold on the shadows and clouds. Over time the bronze patinaed into a burnished color and the brush marks of the gold powder are somewhat evident, giving this print a uniquely abstract and somewhat reflective surface. Printed with water based inks onto Zyrkyl Nidiggen paper, which is archival and made in Germany. The overall effect is very tonal and monochromatic in shades of buff, tan, clay, and gold.
