Rebecca Myers

"I find sublime beauty in natural forms. My jewelry is not only about the materials, but also about the contrast in the materials and the dichotomy that is captured in nature."

Myers' current work was inspired by a trip to Corcovado National Park in Costa Rica, where she collected seed pods and took images of the indigenous plants and insects that thrive in this intense habitat. Her designs embrace contrast in texture, color, and materials. Many organic forms in her work are literal translations of nature, while other forms are abstract hints.

Myers works in high karat gold, platinum, and silver. Her designs often feature natural stones, highlighting their innate brilliance as well as their so-called "flaws." Most of her pieces start with a casting and include many fabrication steps thereafter. Myers utilizes traditional jewelry making techniques such as setting, overlay, inlay, embossing, and the use of abrasive finishes and patinas.

Myers is a cum laude graduate of the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. At an early age, she attended the Baum School of Art in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and later, she attended Barnstone Studios in Coplay, Pennsylvania. While deciding whether or not to attend graduate school, Myers laid the groundwork for her own jewelry line. She acquired a practical education working in the jewelry industry for five years.
