As its name suggests, it is from Mexico and has a medium-coarse grain pattern, which gives even greater drama to the figure that is the hallmark of this tropical American hardwood. Wonderfully colorful, with browns, yellows, black, and beige, the wood is dense and heavy. The walls of the vase have not been turned too thinly in order that it has stability even with a larger dried arrangement of grasses, dried flowers, leaves, or other natural materials.

The turning was finely sanded and sealed; after sealing, Danish oil was rubbed into the wood, followed by hand-rubbing with a combination of carnauba and beeswax in a light solvent. This finish has a very light and transparent quality.

All proceeds from Reeves' woodturning sales support famine relief in Darfur and provision of assistance to women and girls.

Not watertight

One-of-a-kind piece

Signed by the artist

Materials: Wood

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0765/5453/5147/files/fd36d016-fed1-4d46-bced-a24fe7e2c6cf_334890_l.jpg?v=1791419525
