Designed and produced for a long and useful life, John McDermott's furniture, with its innovative combination of wood, metal, stone and glass, reflects his background in both engineering and art. While he feels a spiritual connection to the design process, he insists that his furniture serves practical human needs as well.
Using domestic hardwoods found in the mountains of North Carolina, McDermott personally selects only the choicest logs, which he then mills and dries in a specially constructed kiln. Multiple applications of hand-rubbed oil bring out the rich beauty of the wood.
