Robbie Curnow's work explores the juxtaposition of hand-crafted, hammered, and forged metal with elegant gemstones. Suggesting both strength and vulnerability, the complementary materials of silver, gold, and gemstones come together in a beautiful way, creating a wearable piece of art.
As an accomplished master jeweler, gemologist, and metalsmith, Curnow is well rounded in his field. He specializes in rare and colored gemstones, and works in gold, silver, copper, platinum, and palladium.
His craftsmanship found its beginning with his great-grandmother, who was a true Renaissance woman. She taught Curnow the basics that started him on his lifelong journey of perfecting his mastery of jewelry making. He took jewelry classes at Highline College, Pratt Fine Arts, and the University of Washington, and obtained his gemological certifications at Washington and North West Gemological Institute. He then completed an apprenticeship under his uncle, who is a talented jeweler.
