Marian Maurer

"My work came into being from my love of jewelry and of creating things with my hands. My aesthetic reflects a simple, down-to-earth style: jewelry that is designed and made to be worn every day. Whether on its own, paired with a macramé bracelet your kid made for you, or worn with a dramatic, over-the-top piece, our jewelry is at home."

The inspiration of a lifetime: growing up and now living in New York City. Its layers of people, textures, colors, sounds—this is captured in Maurer's pieces. The sum is greater than its parts. The early morning subtlety of the finish, a mob of granulation coming together and drawing apart, a happy accident, quiet in the storm, a familiar face in the crowd.

In this age of computer-driven design and manufacture, Marian Maurer's jewelry stands out for being handmade by an artist who truly cares about who will be wearing it. There is something about a handmade piece, perhaps the little asymmetries, that is warm, inviting, and personal.

Marian Maurer graduated from Brown University with a degree in fine arts. After Brown, she studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She then worked for a leading American fine jeweler. This exposure to the practical application of form and technique instilled in her the value of marrying excellent workmanship with design.
