Carol Ferony

"I was born with a pencil in my hand, or so it seems. Line, to me, is form. The possibilities, endless. Through my figurative compositions, I seek to challenge visual expectations and stimulate interpretations. As a graphic artist, my intent is to provoke perceptions, draw from the viewers' experiences, and encourage them to find their personal balance between life and expression."

Carol Ferony believes that a painting is never static. An artist's concept is voiced through individual interpretations of a perceived universe which is comprised of ever-changing personal experiences. While the collective association of structural elements, rhythm, balance, and the energy they create are integral to Ferony's work, composition remains the primary essential.

The pastel medium is one of the oldest forms of painting. Carol Ferony works in both soft and oil pastel using drawing techniques and unorthodox formulations. Using predominately linear crosshatching in soft pastel, Ferony applies six to ten layers of color on pastel board (framed with museum glass). Oil pastels are used in a more fluid method most often on aluminum and finished with art resin (framed without glass).

Originally from New York, Ferony has a BA in fine art and also has a background in the culinary arts. She has been showing her work for more than fifteen years, and today, she travels the country exhibiting at select fine art venues.
