April Cannon

April Cannon Studio

"I strive to create a sense of peace and happiness with every work of art I create."

April's work speaks of the relationship between the growth that occurs in nature, and the growth that she experiences in her own life. The simplified geometric shapes found in her work mirror the shapes of leaves found in nature, reflecting the beautiful geometry of nature. These thoughtful pieces create a ceramic garden where one can relax and contemplate.

Using ceramic slip-casting techniques with hand-made plaster molds, Cannon creates individual forms that are then joined together to create forms that mirror plants, coral, and mineral formations found in nature. These forms are then glazed and fired in a kiln to form wall pieces that bring a bit of nature into your home.

April Cannon received her MFA in ceramics from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas in 2018 and has been in love with clay for more than fifteen years. She has an extensive knowledge of the materials and processes of clay and glazes.
