Ginny Krueger

" I am driven to make art that is elemental and evocative."

Since childhood, Krueger has been fascinated with the wonders of life found in the natural world. As a painter, she finds that the natural world reflects her inner world, and so she uses nature metaphorically, to express her personal experience.

Krueger paints on wood panel using the medium of encaustics: a mixture of beeswax, damar crystals, and pigment. The hot, liquid wax mixture is painted, then fused to the wood with a propane torch. Many layers are put down and fused atop the first. Sometimes she collages, sculpts, and scribes into the work.

The artist opens herself to the experience of other media. Forays into watercolor painting, sculpture, printmaking, and glass casting inform her encaustic work while providing fun, freeing ventures that mirror new environs and experiences.
