Kellie Day
"I believe that the only thing I could possibly do on this Earth is be an Artist and a mother. Anything less than creating and living in the most glorious place would not be fully living for me."
Kellie looks at all Art as play. It's an opportunity to express all of life that is too much to say in words alone – to completely be yourself and try out anything. Any materials are game. It's all about tapping into the "greater creative channel" and seeing what pours out. It's no less than a connection with the universe to get to spend this life creating, and helping others to create.
Kellie's artistic medium is mixed media on canvas. She loves to lose herself in collage, and then sketch an image on top, and go wild with paint over that. She takes out all her energy with large, cheap paint brushes or rubber squeegees, and moves acrylic paint across my many layers, to see what is revealed. Kellie holds onto a sense of what she is painting, and let's that be expressed freely.
Kellie grew up in the midwest, painting, drawing and winning childhood awards with her art. At college she split her learning between art and business, then went on to own a graphic design studio. At 40 she returned to her true passion of painting and showing her art. She has created art for companies like Trader Joe's, TheNorthFace & more. She is deeply inspired by the mountains in sw Colorado.
