Alicia Goodwin
Lingua Nigra Jewelry
"My work is very personal, as I create work with random texture based on time and process. I love to play with how the metal feels and how it transforms when plated with gold. I want the wearer to feel like they are wearing art every time they put on my work. I want it to look as bold and as rich as how everyone should feel inside."
Alicia Goodwin has always been creative, but after I graduating from F.I.T. with a degree in studio jewelry design, she really fell in love with the process of creating work in metal. By creating beautiful things from her mind she builds a bridge of beautiful work that is wearable for any body.
Alicia creates her work in several ways, most notably using acid etching and reticulation. Through both of these processes, random texture is created through painstaking processes of time and detail. The work is then designed and gold plated with actual 18kt gold, then assembled by hand in her Chicago studio.
Alicia earned her degree in Studio Jewelry Design from the State University of New York Fashion Institute of Technology after acquiring a degree in Fashion Design. Upon graduating, she worked as an apprentice in New York's storied Diamond District and has also worked for several well established artisan jewelry designers. Throughout it all her work has been based on her current and past training.
