"Paper is my chosen medium because it is a humble yet versatile material. Under my hands, its transformation from the mundane to the unexpected emphasizes that art can be found in everyday life."

JUDiTH+ROLFE specializes in creating contemporary, three-dimensional paper artwork inspired by nature, flora, architecture, and geometry. The artwork's depth generates dynamic views that continually change based on the viewer's perspective. Shadows are an integral element in the artwork, transforming according to the position of the light source.

JUDiTH+ROLFE's signature technique, which involves gluing individual strips of paper down on their edges, is a unique take on quilling. Unlike traditional quilling, where paper strips are rolled and shaped into decorative patterns to create an image, each strip of paper is treated as its own line.

The bespoke art studio JUDiTH+ROLFE was founded by Daphne Lee in 2016. Lee, who was born in Singapore and worked as an architect in New York City for over a decade, unexpectedly discovered her love for paper art after moving to the Twin Cities. She is a self-taught paper artist whose work is influenced by her background in architecture, design, and photography. The studio is now based in Richmond, Virginia.
