"Bellydance" is a fun abstract painting with a quirky attitude. The artist created it as part a series which uses polka dots of color to add a lively touch to her warm shapes and vibrant color choices. This painting was created using acrylic paint on canvas. The canvas is a standard depth half inch canvas. The sides of the painting have been painted dark grayish black.

Painter Amantha Tsaros approaches each painting as a celebration of life. She seeks out colors and shapes that express strength, happiness, or overcoming hardship. Vibrant colors combined with darker, nuanced tones evoke the sense that there is light beyond darkness.

Tsaros begins each painting with a bold and energetic brushstroke or shape that will inform the overall composition of the finished work. As she paints, Tsaros layers colors and shapes to create an energetic field of forms that work together in wild harmony. She employs a variety of painting tools, but still loves using soft brushes and flowing acrylic paint.

Amantha Tsaros holds a BFA and an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She has also studied at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, MA.
