Vessel Composition 10: Color Planes in Shades of Gray
Art Glass Bowl
Created by
Jim Scheller
Inspired by the abstract works of the De Stijl movement, this kiln-formed piece features rectangles in primary colors and shades of gray outlined with black lines. Created over six days, individual pieces are cut and then fused into a disk at a temperature of 1450F. Next, the disk is slumped in three steps in progressively deeper molds to achieve the final shape. The top of the vessel is cold worked and polished with diamond hand pads.
