Reflection in a Stream
Art Glass Sculpture
Created by
Varda Avnisan
This kiln-formed glass sculpture calls to mind blue skies reflected in a stream as it weaves among pebbles and grasses. The lively patterns are formed using multiple glass “canvases” of transparent, iridescent, and opaque glass in shades of vibrant turquoise, blue, green, and brown.
Each design is fired separately, then cut, arranged, and layered to create a harmonious composition. The sheets are slumped on a custom form, giving the piece its gently curved shape, reminiscent of a fallen leaf curled on the forest floor.
Each will vary slightly in size, shape, and pattern.
