Passiflora Foglio

Art Glass Vessel

Created by David Patchen
From Patchen's 'Foglio' series, this flattened vessel was created through the difficult technique called cane and murrine, which involves combining cane with murrine then fusing them together to construct a glass bubble all before blowing the final shape.

This Foglio is composed of stripes in a palette inspired by the vivid colors of the exotic passionflower (passiflora caerulea). Shades of violet, sky, and royal blue harmonize with accents of amazon and orange. Random murrine patterns disrupt the stripes and provide vertical accents. After the patterns are applied to the glass, this Foglio is double encased in clear glass for great depth, optics, and stability.

All of Patchen's pieces have flat satin-finished bases. Museum Wax is recommended for added security. For ultimate stability, this piece may be purchased with a permanently bonded clear glass base. Optional base is 5" x 5".
