Prism Wood
Art Glass Wall Sculpture
Created by
Michael Dupille
Inspired by the natural forms of tree bark and exposed wood, this one of a kind piece evokes the discovery and reveal found in nature's environment. The work is created by specialized fused glass techniques. Fired multiple times to build up the surface developing a highly textured 'bark' element using a unique glass paste that is tooled. The center portion is built as a flat, multicolored area also using glass paste and designed to be flat and smooth. The branch stems are added by drilling holes and inserting cut glass rods and carefully fired so as not to deform their shapes. In the final firing, the piece is slumped (low fire bending) over a curved form to delineate the shape of the tree. This work is ready to hang.
