Driftless Convergence

Art Glass & Wood Wall Sculpture

Created by Aaron Laux
Rated 5 based on 1 customer reviews
This artwork is a contemporary approach to mosaic made from glass and weathered pieces of cherry wood that the artist has salvaged, cut, and dried. Each piece of glass and wood has been hand-fit and glued to a plywood substrate. Texture is provided by the natural surfaces of the trees that have been weathered and grayed by outdoor elements. Glass is chipped along the edges for further textural interest. Washes of acrylic color have been added to some areas of the mosaic.

This artwork is a narrative of our human connection to nature, specifically the Driftless area of Southern Wisconsin. Elemental motifs of water and the topography illustrate the interconnectedness of this ecosystem. "Driftless Convergence" tells a story of how we see patterns in the world all around us, what that means to our lives, and how we connect to the environment.
