Bronze Sculpture
Created by
Catherine L Bohrman
Sinuous lines encourage the viewer to trace the curving form as it moves from one end to the other of this hand-cast bronze sculpture.
Created using the lost wax process, the design is first sculpted in plaster, from which a wax mold is made. At the bronze foundry, the piece is repeatedly dipped in ceramic to form a heat-resistant shell into which the liquid bronze is poured.
After being removed from the mold, the bronze is smoothed, sandblasted, and welded to its base before being finished with a stunning blue patina and coated with wax.
