The Figure
Bronze Sculpture
Created by
Catherine L Bohrman
Asymmetrical lines bring a modern feel to the classical design of this hand-cast bronze sculpture, created using the lost wax process.
The piece is first sculpted in plaster, and a wax mold is made. At the bronze foundry, the pieces are repeatedly dipped in ceramic to form a heat-resistant shell into which the liquid bronze is poured.
After being removed from the mold, the bronze is smoothed, sandblasted, and mounted to the granite base before being finished with a blue patina and coated with wax.
