Bronze Sculpture
Created by
Catherine L Bohrman
Curving as though caught on a gentle breeze, this hand-cast bronze sculpture has cutout detailing that accentuates the movement of the design.
Created using the lost wax process, the piece is first sculpted from clay, and a wax mold is created. At the bronze foundry, the piece is repeatedly dipped in ceramic to form a heat-resistant shell into which the liquid bronze is poured.
After being removed from the mold, the bronze is smoothed, sandblasted, and mounted to a granite base before being accented with blue, green, and gold patinas and coated with wax.
