Camellias

This ovoid ceramic vase was created on a mold formed from an old wooden dough bowl. On a form made of rich dark clay, a layer of thick white slip was slathered on, then carved and incised. Fully glazed on the inside; however, on the outside, only the flowers sport a red underglaze and glossy clear glaze, contrasting with the matte white background. 3.7 lbs.
