DM Bottle III
Ceramic Vase
Created by
Catherine Satterlee
This delightful bottle came from the artist's unwillingness to throw away colored pieces of clay: she makes a practice of collecting leftovers clay and rolling them out very thin, then pressing them into a white clay body, resulting in an eye-catching and artful piece. The DM in the title comes from "disjecta membra", a Latin phrase meaning scattered fragments. The exterior is partially glazed with a matte white, and the interior has a glossy white glaze.
