Birds in a Nest
Ceramic Vessel
Created by
John Davis
A family of hand-formed finches peek through a bouquet of orchids, gladiolas, roses, and artichokes. This vase is slab and hand-formed, dried slowly, then painted with colorful underglazes, and fired for the first time. To give the vase the feel of an aged heirloom, the vase is washed with a dark stain before delicate details are added with tiny paintbrushes, airbrushed for even more depth, and the vase is fired a second time.
