The Four Seasons: Winter

This series of mixed media works on paper, "The Four Seasons," which these giclee prints are based on, is a study of the same aspen trees as they change with each season. This one titled "Winter" captures the quiet introspection of season with a monochromatic palette. There is also the rhythm of the darker branches which is made visible with the absence of leaves. The painting is done with watercolor and gouache and the line work is drawn with india ink or gouache and a steel nib pen. The change of seasons has always been an inspiration for this artist whose focus is on the tree in the landscape.
