Celestial Asterism Necklace

This pendant was created using sgraffito techniques, where multiple layers of enamel are applied to build lustrous depth and pattern, then a design is scratched through the top surface to reveal colors below. Each layer is fused in a kiln at 1500°F, and the final touch is an accent of gold. Inspired by star maps and the night sky, the design evokes a timeless, celestial view of the stars by combining drawing, painting and sanding to create rich, expressive patterns. The pendant is a set in a sterling silver bezel with a 22" silver and gold plated chain.
