Slab Vase - Tricolor
Metal Vase
Created by
David M Bowman and Reed C Bowman
Showcasing a more painterly use of the artists' patinas, tricolor slab vases work singly or in groups as their own artistic statement. They are ideal vessels for large and mid-sized flower displays, with enough heft (especially when full of water) to support tall arrangements. The smooth curvature of each vase, hand formed from heavy brass sheet, is set off by edges intricately textured with flowed bronze, creating a different look from different angles. The color is a patina applied by heating the metal while brushing on solutions which react with the brass. Three layers of different compounds create the different colors, all with the depth of color found in naturally occurring patinas.
