Dale the Deer
Metal Wall Sculpture
Created by
Ben Gatski and Kate Gatski
Gatski created this deer head entirely from recycled farm machinery. The metal used for the head is thick steel from weathered farm machinery. The antlers start out as flat pieces of rusty metal. The artist hand hammers them into shape and grinds them smooth. He then hand draws the head pattern on the metal with soapstone and cuts it with a hand held plasma cutter. Next he welds the shapes together to form the head. Finally he mounts the head on a recycled corn planter disk.
Each head will have subtle variations. They are cut by hand and each piece of metal has slight color differences.
This head can easily be hung with a nail or screw.
