Celebration and Ritual II

This lively collage is made from a variety of monotypes and gold leaf drawings. Artist Emilia Van Nest Markovich creates monotype prints around a particular idea, place, or a narrative: this work was inspired by travel to Oaxaca, Mexico during Day of the Dead festivities. The prints and drawings are then cut apart and reassembled to create an intricate and stunning mixed-media collage. This piece is floated in an acid free mat with foam core backing and is ready to be slipped into a frame with glass.
