Floral Traditions I

This lively collage is made from a variety of monotypes and gold leaf drawings. Artist Emilia Van Nest Markovich creates monotype prints around a particular idea, place, or a narrative: this work was inspired by travel to Oaxaca, Mexico. The prints and drawings are then cut apart and reassembled to create an intricate and stunning mixed-media collage. This piece is floated in an acid free mat with foam core backing and is ready to be slipped into a frame with glass.
